A friend who is a fan of the Celtic singer Méav sent me the following from her inbox. This is one I’d dearly love to go to! Don’t flood them with silly emails, okay?

Subject: Méav Newsletter August 2010

Christmas comes early with PBS!

Méav is delighted to announce that she will be performing in a new Christmas

TV special for PBS. The concert reunites Méav with her former Celtic Woman

colleague Orla Fallon, who is presenting this collection of Christmas

classics. Orla’s other guest for the evening is the gifted young singer

David Archuleta of American Idol fame. The TV special will be filmed in the

Polk Theater, Nashville, Tennessee on September 2nd at 7pm. If you would

like to be part of the invited audience for this private performance, there

are limited free tickets available. Please email bbarr@elevationgrp.com to

send an email request with your name, mailing address and phone number

before August 25th. Please state on the request that you are coming as a

guest of Méav. We will fulfill as many requests as possible while supplies

last. As it is a Christmas show, please dress for winter weather and look

festive! The show will be airing in December 2010.

Edited to add – From Orla Fallon’s blog:

I also have some very exciting news to announce in that I am filming two PBS Specials in September. It’s been hard to keep the news quiet, but I’m delighted that I can at last tell you that the first will be filmed at the beautiful Polk Theatre in Nashville on September 2. It’s a Christmas Show and I am thrilled to announce that I will be joined by former Celtic Woman Meav and American Idol sensation David Archuleta. It will be the first time for Meav and I to perform together since our CW days so it will be very special. We are both really excited about working with David, who is an extraordinary talent.

We aren’t selling tickets for the taping, but we do have some available for those of you who will be in the Nashville area on September 2. If you are interested in tickets, please click here to send an email request (or send it to bbarr@elevationgrp.com) with your name, mailing address and phone number before August 25th and we will fulfill as many requests as possible while supplies last. For those of you who can make it to the show please remember that it is a Christmas show and to dress in the appropriate seasonal attire and colors.

According to MIX1079Online, they -

heard it at one of the American Idol partys in LA…its really good!

Neon Limelight has a cute little blurb on the song:

Didn’t quite want to wait to hear David Archuleta’s new single? You’re in luck–well, sort of.

The American Idol season 7 star decided to give fans a little taste of what they can expect from the single, titled Something ‘Bout Love, by releasing a clip to his mobile hotline fan club fans.

In the minute long snippet, David sings about the ups and downs of being in love. “There’s something ’bout love that breaks your heart/Whoa-oh-oh-oh/That sets you free,” Archie sings on what it sure to be a painfully addictive chorus.

Arch Angels wanting to hear to full song will be able to when it premieres on David’s official website on July 13. The single will have its official iTunes release July 20.

USA Today’s Idol Chatter had a little review of what it heard so far:

David Archuleta is giving fans a chance to call in to hear a sample of his new single, Something ‘Bout Love. On Monday afternoon, he tweeted: “I am previewing my brand NEW single right NOW at 801-386-8196! Call in to hear it first! Let me know what you guys think! Thanks!”

It’s a mid-tempo tune with a steady dance beat (think a kinder, gentler My Life Would Suck Without You) and Owl City-like synthesizers, plus a catchy whoa-oh-oh-oh line in the chorus that should have fans singing right along.

Ace Showbiz wrote:

More buzz from All Headline News:

Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN) – David Archuleta is preparing to return to the music scene. It should be no surprise to his fans that on his second studio album, he’s going to be singing something about love.

“Something ‘Bout Love” is the first single to lead Archuleta’s upcoming new album. The dance-fueled track is a slight departure for the 19-year-old “American Idol” runner-up.

The radio-friendly track features a signature, catchy chorus like Archuleta delivered on his hit “Crush” (complete with some hooky woah-oh-ohs) with the rock and dance beats reminiscent of Kelly Clarkson’s “My Life Would Suck Without You.”

Fans can already hear a preview of the track by calling a special hotline at 801.386.8196, while the song is slated to debut exclusively in full at Archuleta’s website on July 13th, while the track will hit iTunes on June 20th.

Archuleta’s new album is scheduled to be released this fall. It follows up his self-titled album released in 2008, and 2009’s “Christmas from the Heart.”

Who are the songwriters?

Dave F. said it’s someone from a band he used to play with. I don’t think it’s anyone we know of – confused by that -@jwipe

Yes it is my buddy Chris______ who co wrote it with david & someone else.Good song. Heard it last week. SO… -@davidfmusic
