David Archuleta [ tickets ] will spread a little holiday cheer this fall and winter when he heads out on the road to support his forthcoming Christmas-themed album.

The “American Idol” runner-up kicks off the trek Nov. 24 and 25 in Salt Lake City, UT, and the 17-city tour runs through late December, concluding with a Dec. 20 show in Westbury, NY. Details are included below. For information on VIP packages for the outing, including premium seats and meet-and-greet opportunities, consult Archuleta’s official website.

On the tour, Archuleta will be performing his hits along with material from his forthcoming Christmas album, “Christmas From the Heart,” due in stores Tuesday (10/13). The set includes seasonal standards such as “Silent Night” and “I’ll Be Home For Christmas,” according to a press release, along with Archuleta’s original holiday song “Melodies of Christmas.”

“This album represents my love for Christmastime, and what it really is all about,” the singer said in a press statement. “This is a special time of year that we spend with family and loved ones. It means so much to each one of us. I hope you can all feel that in the music.”

Archuleta’s eponymous debut album surfaced last November and debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200. The set has since achieved gold status with the help of pop/adult-contemporary hit “Crush,” and the current single, “A Little Too Not Over You,” is now climbing the pop charts.

Although he was the runner-up to David Cook on the seventh season of “American Idol,” Archuleta won the hearts of millions. During the show’s finale, he reportedly received 44 percent of the 97 million votes cast.

Thx for the heads up @frogcooke who is also a DBB editor lol :D

feel free to go leave comment love at the source  :) :)

For a person who vowed to be a ’singles buyer’, I seem to be on an album splurge again these days! And there’s still November and December to go through… So anyway, I caved and ordered David Archuleta’s ‘Christmas from the Heart’.

So, did I really need another Christmas album? I think so – for me, Christmas albums are special and timeless delights. I’m one of those corny people who listen almost exclusively to Christmas tunes in December, and YES, I also LOVE carolers!!! I will not only NOT be annoyed by them, but I’ll actually stop and listen awhile and enjoy the caroling darnit! Besides, I’ll bequeath my (considerable) Christmas album collection to my descendants some day.

I’ve wondered if this really is the right time for David Archuleta to be releasing a holiday cd, but hey, he does say in the liner notes that he wanted to do the album so he could share his love of Christmas (and as a gift for his fans), so (as a fellow Christmas-lover) who am I to complain? It would be pretty stating the obvious to say that David has the perfect voice for the traditional Christmas hymns – it’s that choir boy purity / bell-like clarity of his voice coupled with his rich and warm tone.

I don’t think anyone will be surprised when I say that the stand-outs on this CD for me are ‘Ave Maria‘, ‘O Holy Night‘, ‘Silent Night‘ and ‘What Child Is This‘ which David sings with heartfelt and genuine conviction. In particular, I have to emphasize how much I love his ‘Ave Maria‘ (!!!) – I’ve gotten so used to it being sung with operatic embellishments, it’s a breath of fresh air to have it sung simply and reverently, while still eliciting that strong emotional reaction that this beautiful song inspires.

I was also pleasantly surprised with how much I liked ‘Pat-A-Pan‘ (such a fun, upbeat song! And it’s French!) and ‘Riu Riu Chiu‘ (it has this wistful & yearning quality that I like, although I have no idea what the song’s Spanish lyrics are about!). Both are new-to-me Christmas songs (in a foreign language) that are excellent additions to my old favorites. So, thank you David for these two.

Jive hasn’t scrimped on production for this cd, and I enjoyed the accompanying orchestral instrumentation / background choir, (very evident on such songs as ‘Joy to the World‘, ‘Angels We Have Heard on High‘, ‘O Come All Ye Faithful‘) but above all that, it is David’s voice that is the major selling point of this album.

Okay, I’ve talked up all the positives for this album, but there are some songs I’ll be skipping in this album and unfortunately, it includes the only original song in the album. I seriously did give ‘Melodies of Christmas‘ a fair shake by listening several times (since David co-wrote it), but it just doesn’t measure up well – lyrically or melody. I don’t hate it, and it’ll probably grow on me eventually, but if I were buying just singles, I wouldn’t really get this song. (But at least, David will receive bigger royalties from this song since he did co-write it). I do get what David was going for – hell, it’s in the title – tying up all the Christmas melodies in one neat little bow.

I’ll also be skipping over ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas‘ and ‘I’ll Be Home for Christmas‘. Just not enjoying these songs like the traditional ones. Charice Pempengco does a great job on the duet with David, but for some strange reason, I’ve never liked this song. Like ever. I would have preferred to have David sing ‘Mary Did You Know’ or ‘Grown Up Christmas Wish’ instead, if Jive wanted to add “newer” (relatively speaking) songs to the album. Or maybe, they could have added more foreign language Christmas songs? (** speaking of, anyone out there with foreign language Christmas carol recommendations?) But I will add that I’m very thankful that David/Jive did not add any ‘novelty’ songs in this cd, especially since his voice would’ve been totally wasted on them.

The entire cd is streaming on AOL music, so head on there for a listen, and if you like, buy, buy, buy! “Christmas From The Heart” is now available at Amazon for $9.99 (with $3.99 in savings) or as MP3 Album Download ($10.99, with savings of $2.18) OR at iTunes (also $10.99). All in all, I’m pretty pleased with my purchase and this cd will definitely be in rotation this Christmas!

Ha! How funny! I came by after a few days of not seeing DBB, to make this mushy n well i dunno all kindsa things post n i see that my nonsense fits RIGHT in with the theme of the post below it lol :D Well in the general theme of group hugs.. and such :D

So like the title says, this post is just coz. Coz sometimes, on a rough day, an email of a few lines, from a friend, offering amazing support, love and strength can bring you to tears. Coz sometimes you find these friends through a certain someone who shall henceforth be referred to as “he who is too awesome to be named lol” [yes the lol is part of the name :D ]. I know i’m not alone in having felt the awesomeness of arch angel love. This may be where the group hug happens :D This whole “thank you david” business really has to stop dangit. Meh. Fat chance.

So I kinda played this song a coupla times a coupla days ago, n OBVIOUSLY ended up thinking how amazing it would be if he sang this on the Christmas album!

After all, these ARE rough times without the daily live performances we’re so spoiled by, right? so um.. here, to get you through the rough times, of any ol’ variety :D

I’m a Buddhist, but this song has always been kinda a personal anthem since i was a kid. Its complete perfection.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Y1wtgLAytA]

Oh n sure, not this album, but when would you say would be too early to start campaigning for it to be on the next one? :D

oh and this is just coz too. just coz its such a DANG beautiful song! i wonder if mr. archulettuce likes this one. i will not be speaking to him if he doesn’t. oh wait.. :D

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6aOmRMRZm8]

GAH! ok like what if david did this? maybe with a gorgeous female voice on background? ok GAH! i’d LOVE to hear what he’d do with it!!!! *thud*

So yeah, if you have any rambles of your own you’d like to share, drop us a line at davidbeyondborders@gmail.com. I mean there’s no worries of it NOT being in SOME way linked to “he who is too awesome to be named lol” right? i mean do we even REALLY have lives outside of David Archuleta? At the very least the mind wanders to he who at SOME point of the day doesn’t it? [the full name just once was for google ROFL :D :D ]. So yeah, drop us a line and and tell all, and we’ll stick em up here. or not :D

hugs :D

oh n this is just coz too :D :D :D :D :D

To David, who has been more of a friend than he knows… A HUGE THANK YOU & BIG HUGS D!!!!!!!!!!!! The CDs you signed on the 8th of April 09 in Singapore, are now finally in the AWESOME hands of  Cheryl at AFAC!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOT YIP YIP YIP!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D <3333333333333 – desh

dave hug

It was my birthday yesterday, and this news was the BEST present i could have got!!!!!!!! The two signed CDs have been through a bit of an epic journey haha :D hence my screaming from mountain tops :D

I wrote a small book back in April about meeting David and the story of the CDs, but sadly it seems to have gotten lost in a Team Archie revamp, so here’s a shorter version of the story on FOD.

Because i’m phenomenally smart, i didn’t think in the rush, of how i would get the CDs across to AFAC, or the cost it would entail, and whether or not i’d be able to afford it! In my defence, if you know the back story, you’d know that they were initially supposed to be pictures, not CDs! :)

Following my act of genius in bringing them back to Sri Lanka with me, Cheryl, Todd and i had much trauma trying to figure out the cheapest and safest way of getting them from SL to the US. Sending them through the general SL postal service meant running the risk of damage or theft (packages have a tendency of getting messed with here), and couriering them meant spending over 40 USD on postage – a sum that had a much higher converted value in the locations they were meant to be spent at (India for RSO and Sri Lanka for the war refugee aid – details are in the back story).

To cut a long story short, i held on to them and sent them to the US through my cousin who works in NYC several weeks ago. Then his wife and i had to harass him for weeks to finally get him to get out and post them :D The poor soul works CRAZY hours and only finally managed to post them on the 20th of Aug, and since then, i’ve been the most impatient fool EVER coz i couldn’t WAIT to hear that they had finally reached Cheryl safely!

This morning, i got an email from Cheryl saying that they have finally reached AFAC after their days of drama lol :D

Larissa, you’re in charge of the delivery next time lol :D

Raising refugee aid is no longer a feasible option coz of difficulties in getting the aid across to the camps.. its a complicated mess on this end.. but now the funds from both CDs can go to Rising Star Outreach, which is a GREAT cause, which will provide some beautiful children with new hope, so i’m ELATED!!!!!!!! :D

Ahhhhhhhhhhh the joys of being an arch angel! :D :D :D :D

David – YOU’RE A STAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <33333333333333

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0MCWtQZy4d8]

We’ll post the full 14 minute version when it becomes available later today [in my part o the world anyhoo, which makes it tomorrow for the US lol :D ]

So if you happen to be anywhere around Atlantic City, NJ this Saturday the 22nd of August, get to the Trump Taj Mahal hotel on the Atlantic City Boardwalk by 5.00 pm and show ‘em how much we love bb :D

If you’ve got any questions you can reach the Fanumentary crew at FANUMENTARY@gmail.com or visit their site by clicking either of the graphics.
