Helloo to everyone from Nashville. It’s been a while since I’ve written a blog, so I thought it’d be a good week to write one.

I’ve had a really great past couple of weeks! I’ve been on the first leg of a radio promo tour, and it’s been great visiting all the different radio stations and getting to perform again! I started in Greenville, South Carolina for B93.7′s Zoo-A-Palooza to help raise money for the local Greenville Zoo there. I then went to Louisville, Kentucky where I got to do a show for WDJX with other performers like We The Kings, Hot Chelle Rae, Iyaz, and Kris Allen as the host. It was really fun hanging with everyone there. We then made stops at 106.3 in Lexington, Q102 in Cincinnati, WNCI in Columbus, and Q102 in Philly. It’s fun getting to go to all of the different radio stations! We also went to PRO FM in Rhode Island, which is always great going over to see them! After that we went to Sixflags New England for a show with KC 101 where Auburn, Boys Like Girls, Flo Rida, and Bruno Mars performed at too. I must admit that I’m a pretty big fan of Bruno Mars’s stuff. He has an awesome voice. I’m sure you guys know his new song Just the Way You Are, but if you haven’t then you should really check it out.

After all the radio promo, it was time to go to New York for Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day where Shontelle, Allstar Weekend, Demi Lovato, and Jonas Brothers also performed. It was really fun. It was cool meeting Allstar Weekend and hanging with them, and then seeing Shontelle and Demi again. I didn’t really get to say much to the Jonas Brothers, but I did catch a bit of their soundcheck. It was cool getting to sing “Something ‘Bout Love” for the first time live.. period.. lol, then also first time live on TV both acoustically on Good Day NY and then with the energy of the band on AAKD. Hope you guys have been enjoying the performances! It’s also been fun getting to introduce another new song from the album called “Elevator” that I first sang in Greenville. It’s one of my favorite songs on the album and I feel is a good representation of what else you’ll be getting from the album :) . More of the David vibe haha.

So… we’ve been getting things wrapped up with the album The Other Side of Down!! It’s been pretty crazy trying to get everything finalized but we’re pretty much finished and have done all we can under the amount of time that there was to work with haha. I’m really excited! We’re a little over a month away from it coming out October 5th, and I’m already starting to feel the anxious and the jitters. I really hope all the work this last year pays off though for all of you! Anyway I am going to end for today, and talk to you guys later!

My dear fellow Archies and Archangels,

As you all know, July 20th 2010 is going to be an extremely special day since it marks the official release of David’s amazing single “Something ‘Bout Love”.

So, on that day, to celebrate its release, let’s have a twitter trending party!

All you guys have to do is to tweet #SomethingBoutLove all day on the 20th of July as many times as you can (without going overboard of course, because you might get sent to twitter jail! Yikes!)

And hopefully, it will end up being a trending topic on twitter and who knows, maybe even David himself might see it when he logs in!

Besides, having a twitter trending party to get #SomethingBoutLove as a trending topic on twitter is a really great way to promote David’s single! Think about it! Curious onlookers may actually check out the song and become fans!

One word of caution : DO NOT TWEET #SomethingBoutLove MORE THAN TWICE AT A TIME AS IT WILL BE CONSIDERED AS SPAM!

Thanks guys! :)

P.S

A big thanks to @TheNZArchangel for coming up with this really awesome idea in the first place! :)

According to an article published on neonlimelight.com,

In his brand new song “Something ‘Bout Love”, David Archuleta uses “a pulsating beat, radio ready synths and his amazingly sweet voice to break down the joys and sometimes troubles of love”.

The review then goes on to say that the song itself is a step into a more commercial arena for David.  And here’s the best part of the review which I think that all Archies and Archangels around the world will really love :

“ Although the beat of the song will have you moving, the lyrics give the song substance–substance that is sorely missing from most songs in heavy rotation on the radio currently!”.

I, 100% agree with the above statement! Don’t you? ;) (especially the part about where “Something ‘Bout Love” is a song with substance which other songs (which are currently being played on the radio at the moment) seem to seriously lack!

The following piece is an expression of my opinion. I consider this piece as my personal tribute to the man himself, David Archuleta! This pretty much sums up what I feel about David, his inspirational memoir, his music and the kind of impact he has had on me on a personal level!

This maybe my opinion, but I truly think that David Archuleta is out to inspire fans like myself and I feel truly blessed to be a part of it all! First, he publishes his memoir with the title “Chords of Strength” which contains such inspiring sentences like : “If you have the desire, if you feel like “Yes, I want to do that”, even if it is a hard path to take, even if it has a lot of resistence with big hills and rocks and trees and you can get scratches, and you can trip and fall, and you can get hurt. I think that’s what makes us grow the most”.

David’s story in his memoir “Chords of Strength” reminds me distinctly of the last lines of the poem “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Browning :

“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I–
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference”.

David has taught all of us that “cynicism gets you absolutely nowhere! Its all about taking the bull by the horns and facing your worst fears yet and learning from experience how exactly to overcome them and take charge!”.  I love David and his music for so many reasons but the fact that there is such a “feel good” and “inspirational” factor involved is what sets David apart from all other pop artists of this decade! The “don’t give up” and “never say die” attitude that David conveys so well in his memoir is also reflected in the lyrics of the songs of his upcoming album. Here are some of the lyrics from his latest song “Something ‘Bout Love” which is all out to inspire:

When you were young
Scared of the night
Waiting for love to come along
And make it right
Your day will come, the past is gone
So take your time
And live and let live

Don’t fight
Don’t hide
Those stars in your eyes
Let em’ shine tonight
Let em’ shine tonight
Hang on
Hang in
For the ride of your life
It’s gunna be alright
Hold on tight

When the world falls down like the rain
It’ll bring you to your knees (to your knees)
There’s somethin’ ’bout love that breaks your heart
Whoa oh oh oh…
But don’t give up
There’s something ’bout love

The beautiful aspect of it all is the fact that David co-wrote this song, which makes it all the more special! I mean, here I am, this 22 year old girl gushing over this 19 year old! Why? Because I owe David Archuleta so much! Reading his book “Chords of Strength” alone made me realise how important it truly is to be able to take those important first steps, trust your gutt instinct and just go for it! I am just amazed that a 19 year old has so much wisdom! David truly possesses such magnificent gifts such as the power of his voice and the power of expression! I was ecstatic when David became a New York Times Best Selling Author. I am so glad that America is recognising David’s potential as a writer, for young people like myself need all the inspiration we can get! Also, another aspect of Chords of Strength that I absolutely love is the fact that it is not some silly book about Hollywood gossip! It is just 100% David, speaking to his fans and sharing his story in all the openess he could possibly muster!” Its as if he is trying to tell us all : “This is me. I am human too. I have faced obstacles too and I hope that you can learn from my life’s experiences and turn your dreams into a reality!”. I have noticed the fact that famous celebrities either don’t publish their own biography at all or leave the task to someone else (where the person concerned goes about “analysing” their contributions in their respective fields in the entertainment industry and tries pretty much to let everyone know of the scandals these celebs were involved in and thereby setting in motion what could perhaphs be considered as a kind of marketing gimmick to boost sales! Besides, which human being doesn’t love a bit of gossip about someone in the public eye?!) or utilise their writing skills to pretty much bask in their own glory by highlighting their accomplishments over and over again! But Chords of Strength is refreshingly different. In this case, in my humble opinion, its all about the fans! Its been written by David for his fans! He is literally trying to help fans like myself  realise that it is aspects such as a person’s family which is most important in life. I don’t ever recall anyother celebrity ever trying to do something like that as far as their personal memoirs are concerned! Each and every one of us can relate to a person like David because he is such a good human being! He such a good role model for kids today. He values aspects of life which young people like myself value : God, family, childhood memories and the so-called mundane aspects of life like going out with friends, watching your favourite show on television, spending time with your siblings, etc! It seems to me that so many singers who started out young were driven by power, money, fame and ambition! But for David, it was to “sing songs with a message and convey a variety of emotions through music!”. In fact, he is the only singer who I have come across who wishes to “uplift” people through the songs he sings! Now that’s what I call a true hero of the music industry!

This is really exciting! David Archuleta’s new single “Something ‘Bout Love” gets a definite airplay date on the radio according to FMQB (Friday Morning Quarterback, a trade magazine which covers the radio and music industry in the United States)!
